I placed an order, What happens next?

First, we send you an email receipt to the email address you provided with your order. If you did not receive the email, please check your spam folder as Internet Service Providers sometimes mistakenly classify these emails as spam.

Next, our warehouse will pull, pack and ship your order by the shipping method you chose at checkout. Most orders ship within 1 to 2 business days. If there is an issue with your order where we are not able to ship it within 2 business days, we will contact you to let you know about the delay and give you an opportunity to adjust your order. If you chose UPS Next Day Air, UPS Second Day Air or USPS Priority Mail Express, we will make every effort to ship your order the same business day it was received. If the expedited order was received after our carriers have picked up for the day, your order will ship out the next business day.

The transit times vary by the service level selected. Below is a general average of the transit times of each level of service. Please note that only UPS Next Day Air, UPS Second Day Air and USPS Priority Mail Express guarantee transit times.

USPS First Class Mail: Averages 5-6 days in transit
USPS Priority Mail: Averages 2-3 days in transit
USPS Priority Mail Express: Most locations 1 day. Some locations 2 days.
UPS Ground: Varies from 2-7 days depending on your distance from Denver Colorado
UPS Second Day Air: Order arrives 2 days after shipment.
UPS Next Day Air: Order arrives the day after shipment.

Can I place an order by telephone?

Yes, you may call us toll-free at 877-810-4174 between the hours of 8 AM and 5 PM Mountain Time (Monday through Thursday) and 8 AM to 4 PM on Friday.

Do you accept purchase orders?

We accept purchase orders from U.S. based educational and government institutions only. You may fax purchase orders to 877-810-4174. After we receive the purchase order, we will verify the information contained in the PO and will fulfill the order. We will include and invoice with the shipment as well as mail one to your billing address.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express and Paypal.

Why was my order declined?

The Writing Pen Store uses Authorize.Net, the leading online payments processor as well as PayPal. Authorize.net and PayPal both have systems in place to prevent credit card/payment fraud which protects our customers. Occasionally, orders get declined because of these protections. The most common reason payments get declined are:

1) The billing address you provided for your order does not match the billing address on file with your bank. To correct this, change the billing address in your order to match the address as it appears on your credit card statement. Pay close attention to the zip code.
2) The CVV code on the credit card is incorrect. The CVV code is a 3-digit number found on the back of the credit card near the signature panel for Mastercard, Visa and Discover. The CVV code for American Express is a 4 digit number printed on the front of the card above the account number.
3) You are shipping an order to a country or region that is different from where you are currently located. In these instances, please contact our customer service representatives at 877-810-4174 to complete your order.
4) Some international banks do not support the address verification systems that are in place in the United States. If your credit card is from a non-US bank and is being declined, please contact us at 877-810-4174 to complete your order.

What shipping methods do you use?

We utilize both the US Postal Service (First Class Mail, Priority Mail and Express Mail) and UPS (Ground, 2nd Day Air and Next Day Air) for domestic shipments. International orders are shipped via USPS Priority/Express Mail or FedEx so that tracking and delivery confirmation can be provided. You are able to select the shipment method that best suits your needs at checkout.

Do you accept international orders?


Yes, we accept orders to many international addresses. You will be able to enter your foreign address and get shipping rates during the checkout process.

How do I return an item?

Our 14-day return policy is very generous and easy. Please refer to our complete return policies HERE.

Do you sell wholesale?

No, we are a retail business only. We are able to provide custom pricing on large quantities of pens. Please contact us by email or by phone to get a custom quote.

Do you carry refills for all of your pens?


We carry refills for many of our pens, especially if the refill is specific to a particular brand or design of pen. However, most of our pens use common refills that can be found at office supply stores. You can see our available refills on our refill page.

Can I purchase a gift card from The Writing Pen Store?

Yes, we offer gift cards in any amount. You can purchase them on our gift card page.

Do you have a paper catalog?

No. Information on all of our products can be found online. We frequently add new products which would quickly make a catalog obsolete. If you have questions about a product that are not answered in the product listing, please feel free to contact us and we will be happy to provide you additional information.
